Here a YouTube video about Onna after the heartquake.
2006 / 2007. TheEmptyCity.
Here a photo-essay in black and white about Monza, my city. The most difficult thing, for a photographer, is to tell one’s city, the daily life running day by day under the eyes. These images try to tell some aspects of Monza, the city where I live. Monza is an empty city. Walking through the streets, there are a lot of old people, playing cards on the shore of the river, going around, looking at young people and immigrants with distrust. Immigrants that work, take care of old people, purchase and sell. Immigrants that get married, and make families. And Monza, motionless and decadent city, stands and watches his social tissue changing, without being able to do anything.
2006 / 2007. CrossingItalianAlps Here a photo-essay in black and white on the Italian Alps. Crossing Italian Alps, through valleys of Lombardia and Trentino. Glimpses, points of view, atmospheres between the dark centuries of Middle Age, and the ugliness of contemporary overexploitation of constructing buildings and farms.
2006. Sardinia. Herea photo essay about Sardinia. This is the story of the interior of Sardinia: a reality far away from the northern coast of the island, colonized by VIP and mass tourism. Photos tell a inaccessible reality, that often lives economic difficulties, and was thence abandoned by the young generations. In these villages remained only old people that, although pestered by globalization, continue patiently to tell and to re-animate the oldest traditions. Photos by Matteo and Francesca, summer 2006. Thanx to Xupi and family.
2006. Here a brief paper I wrote on the image of strangers on poster designing in Milan. This paper is only in italian.
2005 / 2006. GlobalWork. Here a paper (in italian language) and 2 photo-essays, part of a sociological project on migration in the northern area of Milan. Ernesto Fantozzi made the first photo-essay, and Francesca Rizzoli the second one. Globalwork is a research project in the territory of the province of “Monza and Brianza” (situated in the northern area of Milan), that intends to develop distinguishing characters and development tendencies of immigrant employees in the local context of some key sectors: domestic collaboration and wood/furnishing industry. The research was ideated and proposed by the Department of Sociology of the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore di Milano, in collaboration with the institute of social research Synergia of Milano. Here you find the visual sociology research that I developed, working with four immigrant workers, both legal and illegal, in order to understand their life and working conditions.
2005. WhyIModify. This is a paper, in english, on extreme body modification performances in Italy, presented at IVSA conference in Urbino, 2006.
